Henry & Carwash

Yesterday I took Henry to a new groomer.  I didn't take a photo, but he was stinky and a little matted.  His hair was the longest its ever been.  But this is him now
I know he looks stoned here, the flash was really bright for him.  He's not used to the light because his eyes were covered with hair.
He is now smelling good, he is clean and his fur is white.  The groomer blew his fur out and now his hair is actually straight!  Very cool.

I stopped at the carwash yesterday my van was very dirty.  I went through and stopped at home.  I was totally shocked to see how dirty my van was yet.  When I went back to town to pick up Henry from the groomer I stopped at the carwash hoping to get a number to call and complain.  But I got lucky the owner was there and he sent me through again for free.  It did come clean that time... I was very lucky and happy.   However today the weather is crap and my van is dirty again.

Snow Ball Ornament with Letter

Snow Ball Ornaments

 Isn't it pretty

Styrofoam balls I bought at rummage sales over the summer.

I bought this bag of snow flakes from Target $1.99

Elmers Glue and a foam brush
Snow in a big container, no so messy that way
I put the ball on a skewer and painted the entire ball with glue, then sprinkled snow on it.  I let it dry for a day.  Then I bought white stick pins, which I used to pin ribbon at the top for a hanger.  And then pinned letters.  H for my last name. I also pinned all the first letter of all Nicci's friends name to a snowball.  These will be her Christmas present from her.  The letters I had in my scrapbook stash.
I think they are elegant.

The extra ornaments are available at www.differentthings.ecrater.com
If you don't see the letter you want, email me the letter you need I might have it, these are easy to change.

Happy Thanksgiving

It's been a wonderful day.  I worked this morning/afternoon, which was very pleasant.  Then I came home and we had Thanksgiving dinner here.  Yesterday I made the mashed potatoes and the pumpkin pie.  I also marinated the lamb roast.  Then today I put the roast in the slow cooker.  My mom made a turkey breast and the gravy.  So when I got home from work I put the corn in the microwave, buns, potatoes in the oven.  It was great and it went well.  So now I'm watching The Blind Side... a very Thanksgiving type movie.

Tomorrow I think I will be doing a little shopping and I work at night.

Happy Thanksgiving

Bad Ass by Shannen Doherty

This is not the best book I have ever read.  If your looking for dirty on this Bad Ass  your not going to get in this book.  Your not going to get explanations of her actions.  You will get that everything she does is about her being a bad ass.  She does give a little information about her childhood, however it is very little.  It's about every move she makes is looked upon being a Bad Ass.  She gives lots of tips on being thrifty and a smart shopper.  There are recipes that she uses when she entertains.  Which she loves to entertain and on a budget.  It's a fast but rather boring read.

Menards Deals

I stopped at Menards.  They had a 3 rug set for $19.99 after rebate and I bought a new detail sander for $19.99 after rebate.  Microfiber throw for $9.99, it's so soft.  The deals are really happening before Black Friday.  I bought a few things from Best Buy yesterday.  Since I'm a Silver Premier Card Holder I could purchase some of the Black Friday deals already yesterday for a limit time and I receive free shipping because I'm a SP card holder.  I looked at their cheap HP laptops, but guess what??  They were sold out, who would have guessed.  But I did buy some other things, not from the Black Friday sale...  just on sale.

Buy.com has free shipping on most things.  So I bought an item there

I bought 2 things from walmart.com that aren't available at the store.  They also have free shipping.  And not just to the store these items are shipped free to my house.

Plus I went through mypoints.com when I shopped Best Buy because they are giving 4 points per $.  I went through www.swagbucks.com for my purchases from Buy.com and Walmart.com they give 2 points per $ and  because Swagbucks $5 GC for Amazon costs less points then a $10 GC for Target from My Points.  These are the gift cards I buy however where ever you favorite GC costs the least is where you should go through to make your purchases.

So far most of the items I bought so far as gifts were bought online.

White WII Bundle at Target

Last years version of the Wii System bundle at Target is on Clearance for $139!!!!!  Amazing plus you can print the $20 off coupon from the Target website   The difference between last year and this year is actually the bundle the system is the exact same.  But the controller doesn't have the rumble pack and you only get one game I think it's wii sport.  Plus you don't get a choice of colors.  But it's still a great great deal.  My mom bought the kids one last year so we already have one.  Boy if I only had someone on my list that could use one.

Target also has the Guitar Hero bundle on sale for $75!!  Use $10 off coupon from the Target Website  great deal.  Walmart will have it for the same price on Black Friday but they don't have the coupon and they won't accept a competitors coupon either.

Target has 40# bags of Pedigree dog food for $19.99 I use a $1 coupon printed from one of the coupon sites.  Then Target gave me a $5 gift card.  Great deal 40# of dog food for $14.  NICE.

Salvation Army Bell Ringers

Last night Nicci and I rang the bell for Salvation Army.  I intended on taking a photo and guess what... I forgot.  Man, I have a phone with a great camera why can't I remember to use it???  Anyway this is the first time we did this.  It was fun, Nicci and I talked about everything and all the people were really nice.  No bad comments or people that even ignored us.   We said hello and goodbye to everyone as they came and went.  We stopped ringing the bell when someone gave money.  Everyone was so nice.  We noticed that men leave more money then women.  This is interesting and we thing it's because men don't shop as much as women.  This might be the only time they will be never a bell ringer all season.  When women go to multi stores every day and we think they spred out the money to all kettles.  This is what I do I give a hand full of chain to every kettle.  I know I probably give way more then I would just give one time.  But that's ok what I don't know won't hurt me..  right?  Yeah it's a good cause.

I always wanted to be a bell ringer but I never really knew how to go about it.  Well a few weeks ago Nicci said she needed to volunteer for something as a requirement for religion class.  Years ago the class used to spring and fall clean elderly people that belong to our church.  But they don't do that any more.  So we needed something outside of church.  The timing was perfect because the website was up and taking reservations for dates and times.  So I signed up... very easy to do.  If you have 2 spare hours, it's great.  Oh we did "our time" at Walgreens.  We were between the doors so it was kind of warm.  There was plenty of traffic and really nice people.

Tomorrow is Green Bay's holiday parade...  I can't believe it. One week from today is black Friday.  Time is just flying by.

Late Late at Night by Rick Springfield

I finally finished it last night.  It was ok, seemed long, but full of content.  I don't know if that makes sense to you..  maybe I can put it this way.  It was full of information page after page, but I couldn't wait to get to the end.  There were huge gaps in time.  One chapter was 3 years and the kids suddenly were grown up and moved out of the house.  They went from being very little to in their mid twenties and nothing in between.  Now I understand how children might not want their lives told in their parents book.  But a comment here or there to make sure they were still alive would have been nice.  His wife B or Barbara was mentioned throughout the book.  Any way this is it...

This book is about a soap star slash rocker from the early 80's.  His wife  is a saint for putting up with his numerous affairs.  I was surprised to read about the number of CD's he has recorded and released.  I only knew about 3 of them.  He has recorded at least 12 of them over the years.. news to me.  I'm not surprised by the many sexual encounters, drinking and even the drug use.  I'm glad to read that he didn't need rehab to get these issues under control.  The depression was a big surprise and he didn't have years of therapy to keep it in check.  As a teenager he tried to hang himself.  I'm glad the rope broke and he survived.  I only wish at that time he would have gotten help.  But he did seek doctors help but only many years later.  Over all the book is good and I know more about his love for all dogs then his children.  If you remember Jessie's Girl and Dr Noah Drake you should read this book.

I print these coupons when I see them.  Because not all deals are advertised and when I'm in the store I can't price these coupons.  So I print them ahead of time.  I know I might never use all the coupons and I might be wasting paper and ink but I still fell like it's worth it to me.

Last Weeks Deals

Boy I have been busy..  with what you ask.  Well listing and shipping stuff that I have sold on ebay.  Last week was my biggest week dollars sales so far this year.  I sold 3 Thanksgiving blow molds.  They sold high, I was very pleased.  Blowmold Turkey  Blowmold Thanksgiving Indian    Even though it took me hours to create boxes to ship these out in.  They are the oddest sizes and the boxes can't be much bigger because then the cost of shipping skyrockets!!  It's challenging and time consuming.  But I managed.  Don't miss out on these items Current Auctions
Vintage Felt Rag Doll Christmas Ornaments

Plus I have been working a lot and I started my Christmas shopping.  I wish I could tell you about what  I already have done but these items are for my daughter and she might be reading my blog.  So I will have to keep it a secret at least for now.  And last but not least I've been reading Rick Springfield's new book Late, Late at Night.  When I heard it was going to be released I put it on my library hold list.  Then I heard about Shannen Doherty  new book Badass.  So I put that on my hold list too, well of course they both come in on the same day and both are new releases they are short loans.  Meaning they have to back in 2 weeks.  So I have reading every spare minute.  Plus I have the new Keith Richards new book on my hold list so that means that will be coming in any day.  So right now I'm very busy so my blogging is down to a minimum.

Monday Deals

Walgreens has Huggies diapers $7.99 and I used $2.50 coupon printed from smartsource.com  No I'm not having a baby...  A co-worker is having a baby.  So I bought 2 packs.  I bought 3 Reach toothbrushes, I used their ad coupon making them $.99 and then used $1/1 coupons printed from coupons.com and smartsource.com  I also have some from the Sunday inserts. Schick Xtreme 3 razors are
$5.99 and I used $3/1, plus I received $3 register reward.  I bought 3 lindt candies for fillers because I had more coupons then items.

Piggly Wiggly has Food Club butter $.99 with ad coupon.  Food Club evaporated milk free with website coupon. Which they actually took off $1 and it was on sale for $.79.   Food Club Granulated sugar and powered sugar $.99 each with ad coupon.  Pillsbury flour $.99 with ad coupon.  Hamburger Helper $.89 each when you buy 10.  I used $.75/3 coupons from the Sunday inserts and redplum.com  Then I received a $3 register reward.  Pasta Roni is $.79 each when I bought 5.  I didn't have any coupons for those.  My total is $16 and I saved $18.  I donated 5 of the Hamburger Helper  I love this time of year when all the stores have boxes for donating food, pet items and toys.  I wish that more stores would have boxes out all year around.  Festival Food collects food all year around.  It is so much easier to donate when the boxes are the store.  I will be gathering up toys I collected through the year so I can donate them for Toys For Tots.  Boxes are already out in many stores.  Also Nicci and I signed up for our first bell ringing date.   This works perfect for her volunteer time she needs for her religion class.  When my son went through religion class the kids volunteered for fall and spring clean up for elderly parishioners.  But for some reason they stopped doing that.  So the kids and the parents are now on there own finding safe and worth while places to volunteer.

After I stopped at those places, I stopped at St Vincents.  I got some Christmas cutters, felt Christmas decorations, star tree topper and Fisher Price little people.  The tree topper I will keep the rest will be put on ebay today.  I didn't take pictures.  I can't remember do that any more!!

Office Max

On October 26 I placed an order at Officemax.com for 2 XL ink cartridges.  My total was $73 which was enough for their deal to get a $15 gift card free with my order and free shipping.  To my surprise my order came delivered to my house in less then 24 hours.  I was impressed.  However I was extremely busy so I dropped the package by my computer unopened.  When I did have time to open it I realized I did not get the gift card with my order.  So instead of calling the number on the receipt I brought it to the store thinking I would get quick service.  Oh no...  I was told at the store they have no knowledge of what deals they have online.  Oh really this deal was advertised in their flier, but they have no idea what the deal is!!  Ok so I stood at the service desk and called the number on the receipt and the nice woman that answered the phone, told me the gift cards are being mail separately.  Really?  Why did it not say that on the receipt or on the website when I placed my order???  Why is the gift card not mailed with the rest of the order??  She couldn't tell me, she did say that most of her phone calls were from customers wondering where their card gift were?  Why would Office Max do this to themselves and their customers.  Wouldn't have it been easier if they would have it stated when placing the order and on the receipt that the gift cards would be mailed separately?  I was not happy about the time I had put in to finding out where my money was.  Yesterday, 10 days after the order was placed I did actually receive the gift card.  I will think twice on placing another order like this one.  Why do you ask because as a customer I have to remember that it's coming separate on my own.  They could easily just not send it or be "lost in the mail" and I would be out the money.  The gift card was the incentive to buy my ink from them.  Other wise I could have easily bought the same ink $2 cheaper at Walmart.

After Halloween Sales

I stopped at Walmart first, because they open earliest. All Halloween was 50% off.  I bought a bunch of candy: Skittles, Starburst and Gummy candies.  All were $1 each and I used $1/2 coupons.  So each bag was $.50, these coupons were in the Sunday inserts.  I bought lightsticks $.50 each, Halloween panty hoses $1.75 each, teal lights a $1 each, and I splurged I bought a battery operated Halloween Candelabra.  It was $7, a little guilt because I don't need any more decoration.  BUUUTT  it was so cool, I couldn't leave it behind.  I bought a Ghost pillow and blanket for Nicci for xmas.   It is so great having a ours school colors and ghost as our mascot...  I can get great deals at Halloween for school!!

Then I went over to Target and to my surprise there candy was only 30% off.  I did get a couple of bags of Nestle candy because I had a couple coupons that were in some of the bags of candy I opened for Nicci's Halloween party.  Regular sized bagged candy was $1.88 that isn't the greatest price.  But I would have bought the candy before Halloween if I had those coupons then.  I bought some orange and black striped tights for Homecoming next year. I bought orange solo cups for $2.99 used $.75 coupon printed from smartsource.com  I bought orange and black straws, plastic forks,s spoons, knives. napkins, table covers and plates.  Nothing was over a dollar.  All of these will be Halloween parties and Niccis graduation.  I won't buy any of this type of stuff at full price or even on sale.  Only on clearance.   I also found a roll of black streamers for $.75.  Then the dollar spot green dot items were 75% off.  So I got a few scrapbooking things and a bunch of packages of fall leaves for $.25 each.  And on sale was Lady Antebellum  Christmas CD for $6.99.  This is a Target exclusive so I don't think the library will be getting it so I bought it.  Another splurge!!  I used $6.88 in coupons so it's like using the coupons paid for the CD!!!!  Its all in the way of thinking!!  LOL!!!!!

Tomorrow is my sons birthday and I want to make butter cream frosting for his cake or cupcakes (I don't know which one I will be making)  and I didn't have any butter.  Walmarts cheapest butter was $2.75 a pound.  I just hate spending that much on butter.  So Pick n Save has a deal if you buy 3 Pillsbury Grands for $4.98/3 I would get a free pound of butter.  There butter was $3.19 a pound...crazy!!!  Anyway I bought the 3 Grands and they had $.30/3 coupon on package so I used that.  Total for the 3 Grands and pound of butter $4.68..

Then off to Piggly Wiggly to get there weekly deals.  Get this I was in the spaghetti sauce isle and guess what there was???  A blinkie machine with Pillsbury Grand coupons $.75/3!!!!!  Grrr!!  I grabbed  a bunch!  Anyway...  Eileen Halloween taffy $.99, Food Club Hot Chocolate free after Larry's Piggly Wiggly coupon printed from their website, Food Club Taco Seasoning $.39 each on sale, Indian Summer Apple Cider $.99 on sale, KC Master Piece BBQ sauce on sale for $.50 each....  and get this there was a coupon for $1 off charcoal on the bottle.  The checker started taking it off.  I said I didn't buy the charcoal so you won't be able to use it.  She said "they" said we can take them any way!!  Wow so I got paid $.50 to buy it.  I should have went back for more, but I really wanted to go home.  Next time I will see if they have more and hopefully they will be on sale.  Mt Dew case $4.99 with ad coupon, Piggly Wiggly buns $.79 each on sale and a gallon of milk for $1.69 with ad coupon.  Saved $9 and spent $14.

More deals on Wednesday!!!

Oops I forgot at Target they had Halloween Oreos for $1.49 each and I used $1/2 coupon from the Sunday inserts.  So each package was a $1  for OREOS!!!  Good deal and they freeze great!!
