Happy Turkey Day!

 Happy Thanksgiving...

I got up yesterday morning and I saw that Target Black Friday deals were already available online.  Yes...  I  know I'm still boycotting that store, however I wanted to ensure that I got the most important items on my list, bought.  Nicci and Philip wanted bigger things and Best Buy, Walmart and Target all had the same items for the same price.  So I decided that security of getting what I wanted was more important then my boycott.  I ordered them and  all seems well.  If they cancel my order there will be *ell to pay.  Because I and my friend decided not to go at midnight that leaving at our normal time was ok would still net us the items that we want.  There isn't anything remaining on my list I can't live without if supplies are depleted.

We decided that the midnight opening isn't right.  I think stores opening at 4 or 5 in the morning leaves Thanksgiving as a holiday.  By moving it to midnight invades the holiday.  And it does.  I had my mom and my inlaws over for Thanksgiving supper and that was all day to get ready.  I'm blasted tired.  But of course I'm up early to catch up on the deals I might look for (people are already posting their stories)

Well wish us luck...  Happy Black Friday

Unmeasured Strength by Lauren Manning

It is very rare to find a book about a survivor that was injured inside the Twin Towers.  This is the story of a strong woman that had just stepped into the tower when it swayed from the planes impact.  A moment later she was engulfed with blames from a fireball that shot out from the elevators.  She had burns to 80% of her body.  She lost some of fingers but she recovered and is stronger now then on 9-11.  Its a powerful story that was up lifting and easily related to.  She was just going about her day like any of us and this horrible act happened to her and the rest of the country.

Winter has arrived

Yesterday we got heavy wet snow!  Plus it was windy! The weather people said that it wouldn't stay.. huh.  I'm not ready for this...  I know I should be it is November 10th already but I'm not.  Today Walmart Black Friday was released!  Lots of stuff I'm interested in however some of the items go on sale at 10 PM turkey day and then some more at midnight and then a final round at 8 AM.  So we'll see.  I'm waiting for the Menards ad.  There are some things in Targets ad but I'm still boycotting.  I wonder if Walmart will be price matching that day?  I know they have in the past but every year seems to be different.  Did you see Walmart is price guarantying their prices.  So if you buy anything (excluding food) between now and Dec 25. They will give you the difference in a gift card.  I really like that idea.  Plus lay away is back. That doesn't help me now.  When the kids were little I liked to put things on lay away so they wouldn't find them but stores stopping do it.  But it's back so all those gift givers that would like the keep the gifts a secret lay away is great.

Wednesday Deals Update

I have not been posting my Wednesday Deals for a while for lots of reasons.  First reason is I haven't been getting the deals as I used to.  Reasons for that is well I have boycotting Target since March so I haven't been getting the clearance items for cheap or free any more.  Next the coupons in my area have been really awful.  Plus we have been eating different~ healthier.   Back 6 months ago I was told I am a boarder line diabetic and elevated cholesterol.  I had gained a lot weight because of the hysterectomy and that I quit smoking.  So it was time to get fit and lose some weight.  I bought a Wii Fit and I started using my exercise bike regular.  I don't care what anyone says eating health does cost more.  I carefully watch sales on fresh fruit and vegetables.  However since they say we are suppose to eat 5 servings a day not all fruits and vegetables purchased can be on sale so the cost adds up.  I shop every week at Aldi they do have the best fruit and vegetables.  Their prices are reasonable but still have to shop the sales and be careful.  Now my husband has been told he is a diabetic so now I have to really switch all of the shopping and I cook completely different.  I donated stuff from my stock pile that we can't eat.  My stock pile is evolving.  Fat Free and Sugar Free items are very expensive.  So I don't stockpile products like cooking soups and baking supplies anymore.  Even when I find a good deal on like olive oil it's not free.  Olive oil is expensive even with a coupon and doubled it's not even what I call cheap.   Or like fat free cream cheese or shredded cheese never goes on sale.  Price these products, its shocking how expensive they are. So my deals are changing, fewer and sometimes not worth talking about.  I'm still mastering this new way of shopping.

And yes I did lose weight.  I lost over 50 pounds, now I weigh less then I did before I stopped smoking and had my surgery.  I'm still trying to lose weight.  15 pound more and I will be right were I want to be.  These pounds are harder to lose then the first 30.  I'm in size 8 jeans..  I haven't been in those in about 16 years so it's fun to go shopping now...

Red Plum Coupon insert

I just cut the coupons from last Sunday Oct 30, 2011.  I was shocked and surprised that in the Red Plum insert which was about the right thickness for a normal week there was only one manufacturers coupon.
Yup this is the only coupon in the 12/24 pages

What a disappointment!

I did get the Tide $2 coupon and it's good on the trial size at Walmart, which is $.99 and you get to keep the overage!  Nice!
