Henry and Ford

Ford is such a good boy, he sat and watched me cook all day!!

Henry didn't care and slept the day away!
2 of Nicci's dated bears.  Santa has given her a dated bear every single year.  However the pile is getting to big (14) to display all in one spot.  So there are a few bears  here and there all over the house.

A few things that I shipped out today.  I got 2 orders out of my store over night, the buyers are hoping they will arrive for Christmas..  I'm hoping too, I got them in the mail, I did my part!  I still have 3 items I sold on ebay that haven't been paid for.  I sure hope they do pay.  But I know they won't be getting these things for Christmas.

Please note this post for some reason didn't get published.  I just found it was saved as a draft.  So the time line is out of order.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Eve!!

Today I will be prepping for tonight and tomorrow.  Plans keep changing on when and who is coming.  Since I have so few family members you'd think this would be easy, but nope.  All the cleaning is done.  The table and cooking is whats left for today.  Oh and Henry needs a long hot bath.  He's my smelly like buddy and hasn't left my side since I climbed in bed last night.  I didn't sit down the entire day and he missed me.  He is such a lap dog.  If I don't sit down with Henry he will beg for me to come and sit with him.   I'm so lucky to have him.  I'm so excited for tonight.  I'm sure we will play the Wii and after everyone leaves I will be watching It's a Wonderful Life.  It's a tradition.  Hopefully I won't fall asleep like I normally do.  I love Christmas so much.  I keep thinking only one more day and then things all change.  In a little more then a week everything Christmas will be put away and all the well wishing will be over.  Don't get me wrong I'm ok when it's over but I do miss it and in October when Christmas stuff show up in the stores I realize how much I have missed it. The last two Christmas's have been so different without my dad and we are all searching for the new normal without dad.  There is a hole in the holiday without dad.
Merry Christmas Eve!!

Christmas Stocking

I made this stocking for my sons girlfriend. All the fabric I had from other projects.  The main part of the stocking is upholstery fabric and the top is actual the top part of a sheet that had used for some other project.  And the loop for hanging is satin ribbon.  I also made a pillow to match.  40 minutes total.  I like it and I think she will like it too.  I will be filling it with a punch of goodies.

Christmas Floral Arrangements

This is the arrangement I made for my mom
This is the arrangement over my sink in the kitchen

Wednesdays Deals & Tide Stain Release Tablet Review

Piggly Wiggly still has Maxwell House coffee for $3.99 I had some $1/1 Catalina coupons.   To get this price must use the in ad coupon and have  a $5 separate purchase.

Walmart has plump red grapes $.75 a pound. I'm making Cream Cheese Grape Salad

GRAPE SALAD

Read more about it at www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,2243,152177-228201,00.html
Content Copyright © 2010 Cooks.com - All rights reserved.
4 lb seedless grapes
1 8oz. cream cheese
1 c. sour cream
1/2 c. sugar (can use less)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped pecans
Wash, pat dry and remove grapes from stem. Works best if grapes are left whole. In a large mixing bowl, cream the cream cheese. Add the sour cream, sugar and vanilla. Beat well with mixer.
Fold in grapes and put mixture in large serving bowl. Sprinkle top with brown sugar and pecans.
Chill till ready to use.
This makes a large amount. It may be cut in half, using about 3 cups whole grapes with half of other ingredients.

 Yum everyone loves this salad.

Also at Walmart I price matched Piggly Wiggly ad for 2 liter bottles of Mountain Dew for $.69 each.  Awesome price!!  Jello pudding $.68 each and used buy one get one free coupon that I got a few weeks ago from a store display.  Price matched Festival Foods shredded cheese $.99 and butter for $.99.

Target had Tide Stain Release Tablets $2.78 and I had $1/1 coupon from the Sunday inserts.  I've already tried them and I didn't see any difference in my husband and kids work clothes.  They still had plenty of stains.  The tablets have a dissolvable outer coating that scared me.  I was worried they wouldn't' dissolve and it would plug up the washer, causing a flood.  But it didn't.  Target also had Tresemme shampoo on clearance $1.75 and I had a $.50 coupon that I don't know where from.  2 pack towels on clearance $2.08.  These are not fluffy huge towels, but for a $1 each they are great extra towel.

Pick N Save had the same items on this week as last.  I didn't buy anything different besides the Glade holiday glass candles.  The regular price was $3.39 which was 50% off and I used $1/1 that I printed from coupons.com and from the Sunday inserts.  I spent $15 and saved $32.

Some Christmas Items are Already Clearanced.

Menards has all Christmas 45% off today and tomorrow it will go to 50%.  Pick N Save had Glade, Airwick and Febreeze Christmas scents already 50%  I had a couple of coupons for Glade Glass holders.

Be ready for the after Christmas clearance.  Target Christmas aisles are full.  So there will be plenty of things to buy when it goes 50%  If Target follows what they do every year their Christmas stuff should go to 50% already on Friday/Christmas Eve.  If there is something you need buy it asap when you see or hear that it's clearance time.  Target should be going 75% off on News Eve or News Day.  It usually runs for about 2 days and then it will go to 90% for only one day.  But don't wait to buy something unless your willing to live without it.  Target also had a few Febreeze and Airwick Christmas scents on clearance.  No Glade yet.  Walmart usually starts it's clearance the day after Christmas.  I have never really felt good about their sale.  I find much better deals at Target, but it doens't hurt to look.  Kohls also has a fabulous clearance sales after Christmas.  I also love to go to Hobby Lobby for their Christmas clearance.  But I have a hard time not buying everything there.  I love everything they put on the shelves.

What Christmas items do you buy for next year.  Paper, ribbon, tags, lights and garland.  If your interested in doing a Christmas tree make over, buy that new artificial this year and all the matching ornaments when they go on clearance this year.  You might have to go to more then one store to get what you need, but it will be a lot cheaper to do it after Christmas then waiting for before Christmas next year.  If you don't have enough room to store them, when you take down the tree this year donate them or sell them at your next rummage sale.  You could also list them on freecycle  or craigslist.org free!

Also don't forget to check other departments for Christmas items that would be on clearance too. Such as the pet department you might be able to find treats that are a holiday bag, container or stocking.  Storage totes in red and green.  Gift sets of tools and car cleaners.  Fragrance and makeup gift sets.  Holiday movies, books and cd's.  Glad bags, wraps and containers, I don't care if there is holiday theme I will use them all year round.  Holiday candles.  Toys, I saw today there some of Targets Toys were 30% already.   Kitchen items like roasters, glassware, holiday china, pots/pans and other items that the store might have as special purchases- gifts.  And of course outerwear, sleepwear and winter clothes.

If you get gift cards as gifts, make sure you check out the clearance at that store in January and beginning of February because that is the time of the year with the biggest clearance sales store wide.  If you have a gift card you can really stretch it with clearance sales.

Target Microwave $14 which is 75% off

Today I was at Target they have brand new Microwaves for $14 which is 75% that is a deal.  I don't know the specs, I didn't look really close at them because I don't need one.

What life is like at 98

My grandmother is 98 and lives at a local assistant living center.  Her eyes are failing, walking is difficult and her hearing isn't what it used to be.  Every time I see her she tells me that it's a bummer to be 98.  I know she is very proud of her age, but I think she is well aware of how her body is wearing out.  Some many of her friends have passed and most of family members from her generation has also passed.  One out of her five children has passed (my dad).  All of her children are elderly now and can't care for her.  It's even hard for them to visit.  Most of her grandchildren and great grandchildren don't visit.  So it's lonely for her.  She can't see well enough for her beloved crafts or even to see the TV.  Up until today meals were the high light of her day.  Today my mom went to visit and grandma was waiting for lunch in the gathering room.  Mom said she was so sad looking, much like she is giving up.  She said the workers at the home won't let her sleep.  She said that's really all she wants to do is sleep.  Grandma asked mom to take her back to her room so she could sleep.  Mom was completely surprised that she didn't want to eat.  She had no interest.  Meal time is the most important thing in her day.  This is not a good sign, grandma is giving up.  Mom took grandma back to her room and went to find the supervisor.  She said they would bring something for grandma to eat and check on her.  Which I'm glad they are going to do, however this act is going to make her upset because she only wants to sleep.  When I heard this I wanted to run there and see her but I don't want her to be upset with me for bothering her.  I don't want her being upset be the last time I see her either.  So I will visit tomorrow.  I will pray for her today that hopefully she will bounce back over night.  I know the holidays are rough the elderly but this is very unusual her.

Target Price Matching

Yesterday I was a Target and wanted to price match an item.  This is the first time I have tried to price match there in along time.  Well to price match first you have to purchase the item at regular price with the cashiers.  Then they ask you to go to the service desk to get the price adjustment.  Wow what a way to not have to price match.  I stood in line with the cashier only to find out this rule.  I looked over at the service desk and there was lines.  I didn't buy the item because of this reason.  I remember years ago how easy it was to price match there, much like how easy it is to price match at Walmart.  To bad times have changed.

Henry & Carwash

Yesterday I took Henry to a new groomer.  I didn't take a photo, but he was stinky and a little matted.  His hair was the longest its ever been.  But this is him now
I know he looks stoned here, the flash was really bright for him.  He's not used to the light because his eyes were covered with hair.
He is now smelling good, he is clean and his fur is white.  The groomer blew his fur out and now his hair is actually straight!  Very cool.

I stopped at the carwash yesterday my van was very dirty.  I went through and stopped at home.  I was totally shocked to see how dirty my van was yet.  When I went back to town to pick up Henry from the groomer I stopped at the carwash hoping to get a number to call and complain.  But I got lucky the owner was there and he sent me through again for free.  It did come clean that time... I was very lucky and happy.   However today the weather is crap and my van is dirty again.

Snow Ball Ornament with Letter

Snow Ball Ornaments

 Isn't it pretty

Styrofoam balls I bought at rummage sales over the summer.

I bought this bag of snow flakes from Target $1.99

Elmers Glue and a foam brush
Snow in a big container, no so messy that way
I put the ball on a skewer and painted the entire ball with glue, then sprinkled snow on it.  I let it dry for a day.  Then I bought white stick pins, which I used to pin ribbon at the top for a hanger.  And then pinned letters.  H for my last name. I also pinned all the first letter of all Nicci's friends name to a snowball.  These will be her Christmas present from her.  The letters I had in my scrapbook stash.
I think they are elegant.

The extra ornaments are available at www.differentthings.ecrater.com
If you don't see the letter you want, email me the letter you need I might have it, these are easy to change.
